The door is a dance
between the kitchen and the car
take me to Texas
take me to breakfast
take me to towns I’ve not seen
I wake in a world
between fear and forgiveness
Sometimes there’s crying
sometimes there’s lying
sometimes there’s burgundy, sometimes there’s green
The ember of empathy is burning
somewhere in the pit of my chest
I think it’s a sign that I’m gonna be fine
despite all the days of unrest
There’s a window of wildness and willing
where whatever I want seems to fly
I think it might mean that it’s time to come clean
about what I actually desire
The coin is a key
between wanting and having
I keep coming close
I keep losing rope
I keep finding faith in the strength of my feet
I step on a stage
between sinking and swimming
praying for grace
praying for space
praying to be heard, to be seen
The ember of empathy is burning
somewhere in the pit of my chest
I think it’s a sign that I’m gonna be fine
despite all the days of unrest
There’s a window of wildness and willing
where whatever I want seems to fly
I think it might mean that it’s time to come clean
about what I actually desire
Cuz the door is a dance
and I wake in a world
where the coin is a key
so I step on a stage
and it’s time to come clean
